The Grinslade Lighthouse is located at the eastern tip of Eastedge Islet, a strategic position offering an unobstructed view of the coastal hazards of the Paciflantic Ocean. This iconic lighthouse has guided ships sailing along the Lochburn County coast for centuries, protecting fishermen and merchants from perilous reefs.
After making his fortune through the exploitation of the Utopian malachite mine, Bartholomew Grinslade invested part of his earnings in the construction of the lighthouse at the turn of the 18th century. Coming from a family of maritime merchants from Plymouth, Grinslade wished to honor his roots and ensure the safety of ships in these treacherous waters.
Construction began in 1702 and was completed in 1706. At the time, the lighthouse operated with a wood fire and a rudimentary lens, before being modernized over the centuries.
The Grinslade Lighthouse is a cylindrical brick tower painted white, standing 22 meters tall. It is topped by a lantern encircled by a wrought iron balcony. The adjacent building once housed the keeper's quarters, built in a sober yet sturdy style typical of 18th-century dwellings.
Automated since the 2000s, the lighthouse continues to operate through a powerful LED lamp system, providing a range of over 40 km. It is now a protected historical monument and a powerful symbol for the Aldmoor Point community.

Fun fact:
A former keeper of the Grinslade Lighthouse often recounted that, on certain calm nights, a strange light would appear near the cliffs. He swore he had spotted a bright, motionless, and silent object, as if waiting to be discovered. Ever since, attentive visitors have scanned the surroundings, hoping to unravel this mystery.
