General information:

Eastedge Islet is a small elongated island at the eastern extremity of Lochburn County, separated from Renewal Island by a narrow channel of only 120 meters. Despite its modest size, it holds a significant place in the history of the archipelago: it was here that explorer Malcolm Victor Alamour discovered the first mineral deposits of the territory in 1672, laying the foundations for what would become the oldest continuously operating industrial site in Grand Utopia of America. Today, the islet is home to a single hamlet, Aldmoor Point, and is known for its malachite mine, its historic lighthouse, and the wild landscapes of the Eastedge Community Park.

Geography

Location

Eastedge Islet lies at the far eastern end of the Lochburn County island chain. It faces the open waters of the Paciflantic Ocean to the north, east, and south, and is connected to the western tip of the islet to Renewal Island via the Salem Bridge, which spans the 120-meter channel separating the two islands. The islet covers an area of approximately ~8 km² (~3.1 sq mi).

Topography

The islet is long and narrow, tapering toward its eastern tip where the Grinslade Lighthouse stands sentinel. The terrain is mostly wooded and hilly, with coastal cliffs dominating the eastern and southern shores. The western end, where the Salem Bridge lands, is the lowest and most accessible part of the island, and hosts the hamlet of Aldmoor Point. Massachusetts Beach, a rare stretch of accessible shoreline, lies near the village center. The southeastern coast is marked by the distinctive mound of the Utopian Malachite Mine, a visible reminder of over three centuries of extraction activity.

Economy

The economy of Eastedge Islet has been shaped by mining since its very first days. The Utopian Malachite Mine, founded in 1674 as the Grinslade & Alamour Extraction Company, remains the island's primary employer and its most emblematic institution. Now operated by Coastline Mining, it extracts between 250 and 300 kg of raw Utopian malachite per year — a rare green stone with bluish opalescent reflections, prized in jewelry and advanced technology. Heritage tourism provides a secondary source of activity, centered on the Eastedge Community Park, the Grinslade Lighthouse, and the historic village of Aldmoor Point.
