FUN FACT

Every autumn, the Tamarack River carries golden tamarack needles down from the mountains and spreads them along the shore, drawing a thin golden line across the dark beach that locals call the Gold Tide.

</aside>

Dunmoor Beach is a rocky, windswept stretch of shore on the edge of Tannside, in Lochburn City. Cold, bare and rarely visited, it is remembered less for its scenery than for what happened there in the autumn of 1824.

DESCRIPTION

∟ A hard shore

Dunmoor Beach is a narrow strip of dark earth, pebbles and weathered boulders, backed by rough grass and a low wooden fence. Early settlers named it Dunmoor for the dull brown moorland that once stretched behind the shore, and the name stuck long after the moor gave way to the roads and warehouses of Tannside. Today it is a public shore without facilities, where the water stays cold all year and swimmers are rare.

∟ The landing of 1824

During the Lochburn Rebellions, Dunmoor Beach served as a secret landing point for the rebels. In the autumn of 1824, a shipment of muskets, whose delivery had been arranged through the network of Clearfog Harbor, was brought ashore here by night, close enough to Lochburn City to be carried in before dawn. A colonial patrol, tipped off by an informer, surprised the rebels among the rocks at first light. The skirmish that followed scattered the group and left the cargo abandoned on the shore.
