Abraham Harrington was an English colonial leader and one of the founding figures of Clearfog Harbor. He led the first group of settlers and established the foundations of the community, working in close partnership with Thomas Whitaker, whose commercial vision complemented his leadership.
Born in Plymouth in 1652, Abraham Harrington grew up in a port city deeply connected to maritime exploration and colonial expansion. From an early age, he developed a strong sense of discipline and leadership, which led him to take part in expeditions to the New World. He eventually led a group of settlers to the region that would become Clearfog Harbor. There, he met Thomas Whitaker, with whom he formed a decisive partnership. While Harrington ensured the structure, governance, and cohesion of the settlement, Whitaker focused on trade and port development.
Harrington is remembered as the man who gave Clearfog Harbor its first structure and stability. His ability to organize and lead a fragile community in an unfamiliar land allowed the settlement to endure and grow. He died in 1713, leaving behind a well-established settlement that would continue to expand for generations. His partnership with Whitaker remains a defining element of the city’s foundation, symbolizing the balance between leadership and economic vision.

Fun fact:
Harrington insisted on naming one of the first streets Market Street, even though no real trade activity existed there at the time. He believed the settlement would one day grow into a thriving commercial hub—and the name remained as a testament to his vision.
