Flatfields is a town founded in 1728, about 7 miles southeast of Lochburn City. It developed in the heart of a vast fertile plain, which early on made it the main agricultural area in Lochburn County. For more than two centuries, it has played an essential role in regional food supply, a role it still plays today.
Flatfields was founded in 1728 as an organized farming community, intended to cultivate the fertile plains around Lochburn City. In 1795, it officially became the main agricultural production center of Lochburn County, a position it has never lost since.
In 1863, the first agricultural cooperatives were created, marking a sustainable restructuring of the local economy. The movement is closely tied to Harold Whitman, a 19th-century local figure known for modernizing agricultural practices in the region and for establishing the county's first cooperatives. His influence has had a lasting impact on the town's economic identity, and Whitman Tower still stands in his honor.
Today, Flatfields remains the primary agricultural center of Lochburn County, with farming still shaping its landscape and local economy. The commissioning of the airport in 1978 opened the town to civil and cargo air traffic, and its expansion in 2025 has strengthened logistics, transport and international trade activities. Flatfields thus combines its historical rural identity with modern infrastructure, maintaining its strategic importance within the county.
Flatfields covers a mostly flat area dotted with farmland, silos and agricultural infrastructure. Its close proximity to Lochburn City has fostered a strong relationship between rural production and urban distribution, making the town a strategic link in the local economy.
Historically focused on agriculture, Flatfields remains a major center for grain production and livestock farming in the county.
In the 20th century, the town diversified its activities with the development of logistics and aeronautics, notably thanks to the establishment of Katrina H. Lochburn County International Airport, which strengthened its economic importance and regional influence.

Erected in honor of Harold Whitman, the farmer who modernized agriculture in the county and founded its first cooperatives, Whitman Tower still stands today as one of the town's landmarks.
Opened in 1978 on unused farmland near Flatfields, the airport was entirely rebuilt between 2021 and 2025 and is now the main cargo hub of Grand Utopia of America.
A Lockridge L-58 "Startrail" built in 1953 is displayed on a circular plinth at the entrance of the airport, where it serves as a ceremonial gateway. This former Idaho Air Guard aircraft is remembered for its role in the 1957 "Midnight Traverse" mission.
Grand Pastures is the town's livestock farm, a reminder that Flatfields has always raised animals as much as it has grown crops.
Halfway along the road to Clearfog Harbor, a blue farmhouse and its barn stand at the edge of a field that turns orange every autumn. Run by the Hollis family since 1951, the farm grows pumpkins, squash and gourds and sells them alongside other local produce. Roadside signs advertise it simply as Pumpkins Family Farm, and come harvest time, locals and passing travelers alike stop to pick their perfect pumpkin.
